Yaowawit School

Yaowawit SchoolYaowawit boarding school was originally founded for Tsunami victims. It is officially recognized as a “private welfare” school and opened in May 2006.

Owner of the boarding school is the officially registered “Childrens World Academy Foundation” which is supported by the Thai princes Maha Sakri Sirindhorn. Today Yaowawit is under responsibility of local Thai management with international supervision by a local project manager and the German founder Philipp Graf von Hardenberg.

Today Yaowawit is the home of over 120 children from age 4 – 18, who come from very poor and socially disadvantaged families. Yaowawit provides them a secure home, gives them a first class education as well as practical skills and teaches them social values. The aim of Yaowawit is it to enable the children to break the circle of poverty in their own future.

Yaowawit depends to 80% on donations, project- or children sponsorships and generating own income from the lodge and the farm. With your visit you make a meaningful contribution to the school, which is directly going to the children.

You have the opportunity to visit the kindergarden or the other classes and join in actively. Yaowawit children are happy to talk, interact, learn and play with foreign visitors. The school is very open to ideas for an interesting and fun learning opportunity for the Yaowawit students. You are very welcomed to make suggestions.
.
Every Sunday morning guests can go to visit the Kapong market together with 45 Yaowawit children. Or you can join the children in the schoolbus for a trip to the beach or waterfall over lunch.

With the older students you can participate in an art class or join them in working in the farm and garden. In any case you will be fascinated by the opennness, kindness and excellent social behavior of those Thai children.

We will discuss the different opportunities with you at the beginning or prior to your visit and find the most interesting and enjoyable activities for you.
