There are some very good reasons why we don’t offer an afternoon kayaking tour in Phang Nga Bay. First, the wind tends to pick up in the afternoon in the bay. Kayaking in the wind can be very challenging. It would also likely impact how much fun you have and you having fun is very important to us. Kayaking in strong wind is not as safe and kayaking when it’s calmer. Safety is, of course, our absolutely top priority.
Second, during the rainy season, especially early in the rain season, the likelihood of a shower is much greater in the afternoon. Rain does not detract from the beauty of Phang Nga Bay. However, rain showers during the monsoon season tend to be preceded by a front, which could and often does include some pretty strong wind… again, wind is not fun.
Third, as being environmentally responsible is very high on our list of priorities, Paddle Asia utilizes the public ferry system to access the middle of the bay (ferries stop running before sunset. Plus, for safety reasons, it’s not advisable to be on the water after dark). It’s a short and scenic speedboat ride to Koh Yao Noi. Once on the island, we use a private longtail for the kayaking adventure.
To summarize, our goal is to give you the best possible experience in Phang Nga Bay. Departing in the morning greatly increases the chance of you being safe, having fun, and feeling good about yourself for supporting an environmentally respectable kayaking tour.
Our goal is to provide you with serene seclusion in Phang Nga Bay.
